(don’t worry… its not gonna be like dicken’s david copperfield.:)
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE GIRL WHO ALWAYS SITS AT THE FAR END OF THE ROOM?...
She remained unnoticed…
This is a story of two best friends. Since I mentioned that this is a true story then I have to come up with fictitious names to conceal their identities. I’ll name them… Janeane and Anne.
They were best friends but by looking at them, one would assume that they were just the total opposites. Janeane seemed like the meek, weak and introvert type with a frail body and eyeglasses to match her uber genius brain. On the other hand, Anne is the friendly, strong and bubbly one who gets along with everybody. But they got along perfectly well. They were the only ones who knew how they got along, who knew who they really were and when they were in their world, they didn’t care about everybody.
But you see, it didn’t start with two girls meeting on the first day of school and started to become friends… Janeane had a quiet life at school. A life at the far end of the room where nobody seemed to notice and if someone did notice her, it didn’t last long.
Until Anne came.
Anne was also quiet then but has an affable aura that seemed to please everyone. She chose to be with Janeane despite the chance of being with other friends who are like her and they immediately got along. They had each other for company each day for years, shared pocket books and cassette tapes of grunge bands, made fun of their classmates behind their backs and window shopped together. Janeane had not laughed so hard and had not been so free until she met Anne and Anne had never felt comfortable and warm until she’s with Janice. Both were happy until death came one morning.
Janeane and Anne knew this was coming but being young as they were, they didn’t bother pondering on it until death took everything away…
Now she’s back at her corner of a room she had built for herself, now a room so dark that not even a spark of light could glisten the tears that fall from her eyes and she has never felt so alone.
It was Janeane who left.
Janeane was terminally ill but despite the fragile shell, she was the stronger one than Anne, stronger in spirit. Yes she was alone before she met Anne, but she was happy nonetheless, she was filled with romance sustained by Emily and Charlotte Bronte’s novels, imagined happy endings by her Sweet Dreams books and secretly grinned at the simple life that she chose to lead.
It would seem like Anne was holding Janeane up but it was the other way around. The very existence of Janeane and the will to live humbled Anne then and that made Anne drew closer to Janeane. Nobody really knew how sad Anne was then except for Janeane and now that she is gone, she brought along the secret with her… That Anne, despite the strong threshold and jovial front, cries underneath and pleads for help but nobody could hear…
And so the girl who sits at the far end of the room… Anne is still unnoticed.
